Q:あなたはどこの出身ですか？

A: フランスのパリです。

Q; パリで育ったことは、あなたの現在のサウンドにどのような影響を与えましたか？それはパリ発の、初期のエレクトリック・サウンドでしたか？もしくは、あなたのルーツはもっと伝統的なものですか？

A: 沢山のHip Hopとソウル・ミュージックに囲まれて育ったので、私のルーツは伝統的なものです。私がエレクトロニック・ミュージックに夢中になったのは、パリのBatofarパーティーに行き始めた、90年代半ば以降でした。その頃の主流は、サンフランシスコ発のDeep Houseでした。私は、このDeep House サウンドを通して、ソウルフル・グルーブと、90年代半ばのHipHopの未熟さとの間のコネクションを、本当に感じることができました。

Q; あなたは、過去、そして、最近の、ダンス・ミュージックに於ける、フランスの影響をどのように考えますか？

A:それが、HouseでもTechnoでも、私は、いつも自分のgrooveに挑戦し、主張しています。全ては、そのgrooveなんです。

Q; あなたは、セットを計画しますか？

A:絶対にしません。私はいつも、セットを1回限りのものにしています。もし、それらを計画しなければいけないとしたら、面白くなくなるでしょう。

Q; 『良いDJとは？』という議論に対し「技術的にパーフェクトなセットを持つ人」と「絶え間なく、枠を超える試みを続ける人」がしばしば意見を分けます。あなたはこの議論に対してどのように考えますか？

A:もちろんパーフェクトなセットでプレイするのは素敵なことです。でも結局それらのセットは、何か欠けているものがあるのです。少しクレイジーでも、そのトラックを大抵予想していなかったとしても、結局音楽はフィーリングであり、それは常に完璧にはなり得ないものです。それは良いことではないでしょうか

Q;とても人気のあるDJとして、世界中で沢山の出演予定が組まれていますが、どの国のオーディエンスが１番印象的でしたか？

A:ここ最近ではロサンゼルスのThe Standard Rooftopでのthe Culprit Partyです。Shonkyと私と太陽の降り注ぐ中でのプレイでした。

Q; では、これまでプレイしたクラブの中でどこが１番ですか？その理由は何でしょう？

A:ありきたりかもしれませんがロンドンのFabricですね。あのサウンド・システムによって、オーディエンスと一つになれるからです。あそこでは全てが完璧なんです。

Q; あなたは今回、WarehouseでのPhonikaのAnniversaryパーティーに招待されましたが、私達はDyed Soundoromから何を期待できるのでしょうか？

A:パリからとっておきのDeep Tech Soulを東京の皆様にお届けします。Phonikaの1st yearAnniversaryは、最高のものになるでしょう。

Dyed Soundorom is one of the most exciting producers to come from the Paris club scene in recent years.He quickly developed a devoted following of fashionistas, artists and clubbers in Paris as he played at parties Alcazar and Batofar at the biggest clubs in town. Since then he has become a fixture at London's no.1 club Fabric, in addition to guest DJing at the worlds premier clubs such as Panarama Bar(GER), Watergate(GER), Avalon(US), Rex(FRA),Mio(RUS), Kama Kama(ITA), Pacha(IBIZA), Goa(ESP), T-Bar(UK) and manymore.
After the success of the Mezzanine De Llcazar compilation he mixed with Chloe, Dan Ghenacia invited Dyed and Shonky to do a mix for the Freak n Chic Rendez-Vous album. Dyed Soundorom is an increasingly in-demand DJ aswell as a blossoming producer.
He has been featured on Mixmag, Dj Mag, Groove charts amongst many others, his tracks can be found in almost any DJs current chart.

10th of October will be the 1st year Anniversary of Phonika and they have teamed up with Freak N Chic to bring you Paris` very own Dyed Soundorom and for that occasion asked him few questions.

Q; Where were you born?

I was born in Paris, France.

Q; How did growing up in Paris have an influence on the sound that you are into now, was it the early electronic sounds coming out of Paris or were your roots more traditional?

My roots were more traditional as I grew up with a lot Hip Hop and Soul music.
It wasn`t until the mid 90`s that I found and fell in love with electronic music when I started going to the Batofar parties in Paris.
The flavour around that time was the Deep House sound that was coming out of San Francisco.
I was able to really feel a connection between rawness of mid 90`s Hip Hop and the soulful groove that was coming through this Deep House sound.

Q; How do you see France`s impact on dance music from the early days
and in recent years?

In the early days of Juan Trip, Jerome Pacman, Laurent Garnier, Scan X and ofcourse Daft Punk, France had a huge impact on dance music on an international level.
The french scene has always been healthy and now we have artists suchas Chloe, Djulz and Popof who are the new wave of french talent bringing their own "new sound" to the world.

Q; Production wise, what can we expect regarding your up and coming releases for 2010?

I will be doing more of the same, some real deep tech grooves with a lot of soul straight from Paris.
In 2010, you can expect many more releases from me out on Freak N Chic, Crosstown Rebels and Spectral Sound.

Q; This year you teamed up with Tokyo`s very own So Inagawa on Tsuba Records` "No More Thrills" release was this a one off or can we expect more collaboration with Japanese artists in the future?

It was a great pleasure working with So Inagawa, I have a massive respect for him as a person and as an artist.
It was an honour when Tsuba Records` boss Kevin Griffiths asked me to work on this remix, I was very pleased about how it turned out.
The music coming out of Japan is extremely fresh and very unique so I am hoping to work with some more Japanese artists in the future.

Q; Recently, we had your Freak & Chic compatriot Shonky over to these shores, have you got any expectations of Tokyo both in and out of the club?

Its a great honour for me to come over and show Tokyo what I can do and represent Freak N Chic.
I have always been a great fan of the culture in Japan and I am hoping to discover many more things in the city and in its clubs.

Q; As this will be your debut in Tokyo and for those who aren`t familiar with your DJing, how would you best describe your style?

Whether it be the House or Techno that I play I always try and maintain a certain groove, its all about that groove.

Q; Do you plan your sets?

No never, I always try and feed off the crowd and make my sets into a "one off", if I had to plan them then it wouldn`t be as much fun.

Q; A topic that often divides opinion on what makes a good DJ, those who have technically perfected sets or those who constantly experiment by going out on a limb. where do you stand on this debate?

Of course it is nice to play the perfect set, but ultimately those kind of sets miss something.
Whether it be a little bit of craziness, that track you wouldn`t usually expect because at the end of the day music is about a feeling and it can`t always be perfect. Thats a good thing isn`t it?

Q; As a high demand DJ you have a lot of gigs scheduled all over the globe, which crowd stands out so far as the best?

The most recent was at the Culprit Party @ The Standard Rooftop in Los Angeles where myself and Shonky were playing back to back under the sun.

Q; And on that note, which is the best club you have played at so far and why?

It maybe becoming a cliche but it has to be Fabric in London, because of that sound system, the people who work there right through to the crowd, everything there is perfect.

Q; You have been brought in for Phonika`s Anniversary bash at Warehouse, what can we expect from Dyed Soundorom?

I will be bringing the Deep Tech Soul straight from Paris ready to showcase to the people of Tokyo and put on one hell of a show at Phonika`s 1st year Anniversary.
